The Great British Recording Studios

If you worked in a recording studio in Britain in the 1960s or 1970s, we need your help!

The APRS has announced an important project which will celebrate and memorialise the iconic British studios of the ‘60s and ‘70s in a book to be published by the Hal Leonard Corporation and distributed worldwide in late 2013.

The Great British Recording Studios will be written by veteran music journalist, Howard Massey, and will provide a comprehensive technical overview of dozens of studios from that era, including room dimensions, acoustic treatments, and equipment and mic listings, as well as descriptions of specialised recording techniques developed at each studio.

Also included will be a list of key personnel and discography of the main recordings done at each facility, as well as anecdotal “stories from the studio”  -   those brilliant behind-the-scenes tales we’ve all shared with our peers, but which have never seen the light of day ... until now.

So please share your memories!

We’re also looking for photographs taken during those years, preferably showing artists at work in the studio areas and control rooms.

Monetary compensation for the copyright holders is on offer for one-time rights to photos used in the book, and all contributors will receive a complimentary copy of the book, autographed by Howard Massey.
