Over the past few months Abbot Street Studios has been working along side SAE (School of Audio Engineering) to provide a professional environment to give young engineers real life experience as well as educate on studio etiquette. This influx of young artists and engineers has been a rewarding experience for Abbot Street Studios and we look forward to a long lasting relationship.

Tim O'Shea, music lawyer at Michael Simkins LLP, has been speaking about the legal aspects of APRS members carrying out "speculative" work. Tim began with a word of caution, making clear that if members carry out speculative work, they should be prepared never to be paid for it.

Ofcom have published proposals for managing the airwaves for the London 2012 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games.

These will support the thousands of different wireless services needed in the run-up to and during the seven weeks of the events. These include private mobile radios in and around Games venues across the UK, and wireless cameras
and microphones to broadcast sound and pictures to a global audience of five billion viewers.

The Draft Spectrum Plan sets out what spectrum Ofcom will make available, how it will license its use and how it will minimise the risk of interference, to meet the Government's guarantees on allocating spectrum for the organisation of the Games.

The consultation, which closes on 5 August 2009, can be found here

    Hello world!

Welcome to the new APRS web site. We had an enjoyable evening at The Bath House on Monday 18-May-2009 launching the re-vamped web site. No bottles of champagne were harmed in the relaunch but damage was done to several bottles of Red and White and a good time was had by all.

Thanks for your suggestions, and if anyone has any other ideas or feedback do drop me a line to mike @ aprs.co.uk

There's still one minor database issue I need to resolve before the passwords go out. This requires a sharp-ish brain and mine is somewhat dulled by having arived back from London with severe man-'flu. Actually it's just a rotten cold which has filled my sinuses with gunge and my brain with cotton wool, but I hope to be restored to full functionality very soon!

This blog page is also brand new, by the way, and somewhat under trial... let's launch it and see how it flies...
